Giants 4, Mets 3: Pablo Sandoval knocked in his third run of the day with a go-ahead, ground-rule double in the ninth inning and visiting San Francisco held on to take three of four in the series.

Gregor Blanco singled with two out in the ninth and Buster Posey walked for the fourth time before Sandoval sliced a pitch by Jenrry Mejia (5-4) to left for his third hit and Santiago Casilla notched his ninth save in the ninth. Joe Panik collected a career-high three hits while Hunter Pence added two hits and scored twice for the Giants.

Daniel Murphy belted a two-run homer among a pair of hits and Juan Lagares recorded a double and two singles for the Mets. Sergio Romo (5-3) pitched a scoreless eighth to gain the victory.

Curtis Granderson walked to lead off the first inning for the Mets and trotted home when Murphy hammered a Tim Hudson changeup just over the right-field fence. Pence doubled and Posey walked to set the table for Sandoval’s two-run double to the right-center field gap with two out in the third.

Murphy singled with two out, moved to third on Posey’s throwing error after a steal of second, and scored on David Wright’s infield hit in the fifth. Pence tripled and scored on a wild pitch in the seventh to tie it at 3-3, but center fielder Lagares threw out Blanco at the plate on Sandoval’s single and Brandon Belt’s double play ended the inning.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pence went 6-for-18 in the series with six runs scored, two homers and seven RBIs as the Giants improved to 19-9 against NL East opponents. … Hudson, who came in with 17 career wins against the Mets, allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits over five innings and Dillon Gee went the first 5 2/3 frames for New York, giving up two runs on five hits. … Mets manager Terry Collins was ejected for arguing balls and strikes by home-plate umpire Ben May in the seventh inning.
