Phillies 6, Mets 0: Chase Utley hit his fifth career grand slam and Cole Hamels worked eight strong innings as visiting Philadelphia evened its three-game series with New York.

Jimmy Rollins and Grady Sizemore also homered for the Phillies, who defeated the Mets for only the fourth time in their last 15 meetings. Hamels (6-5) improved to 3-0 with a 0.78 ERA in three turns since the All-Star break with his first win in his last five starts against the Mets, allowing six hits while striking out eight.

Curtis Granderson and Eric Campbell each recorded two hits while David Wright doubled in the third inning to account for the only extra-base hit by New York, which lost for only the second time in its last 10 home games. Dillon Gee (4-4) suffered his third setback in as many outings, surrendering five runs on five hits and three walks over 6 2/3 innings.

Hamels stranded at least one runner in each of the first four frames but retired the final 13 batters he faced before departing after throwing 82 of his 109 pitches for strikes. Gee made his first mistake in the third, leaving an 0-2 changeup over the plate that Rollins lined off the top of the right-field fence and over for his third home run in 12 games since the Midsummer Classic.

Sizemore doubled the lead with two outs in the fourth, sending a 1-2 slider high off the foul pole in right for his first blast in 14 games with Philadelphia. Gee was pulled after loading the bases with two outs in the seventh and Utley greeted reliever Josh Edgin by stroking a 2-2 fastball into the second deck in right.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rollins and Utley recorded their 29th and 32nd career homers, respectively, against the Mets – both of which are the highest totals by either hitter against any opponent. … The Mets fell short of posting their first five-game home winning streak since a nine-game run from May 22-June 8, 2010. … Hamels improved to 8-14 with a 4.19 ERA in 30 all-time outings versus the Mets. The 14 losses are his most against any foe while his 4.19 ERA is the highest mark against any National League opponent.
