Athletics 9, Twins 4: Derek Norris homered and drove in five runs while Josh Donaldson collected three hits and two RBIs as host Oakland extended its winning streak against Minnesota to 12 games.

Stephen Vogt also went deep and No. 9 hitter Eric Sogard walked four times for the first-place Athletics, who maintained their four-game lead over the Los Angeles Angels in the American League West. Jeff Samardzija (5-8) allowed two runs and seven hits over six innings as Oakland improved to 6-0 versus the Twins this season.

Trevor Plouffe drove in a pair of runs and Jordan Schafer went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Minnesota, which has lost four in a row. Trevor May (0-1) lasted only two innings in his major-league debut, surrendering four runs and three hits while issuing seven walks.

The Twins wasted little time getting on the board as Brian Dozier doubled with one out in the first inning and Plouffe followed with an RBI single. Oakland answered quickly as Norris drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom half, and May issued five free passes in the second - including another to Norris with three on base - while also yielding a two-run single by Donaldson as the Athletics took a 4-1 lead.

Plouffe got the Twins within two with an RBI groundout in the fifth, but Vogt launched a two-run shot off Samuel Deduno in the bottom of the frame to make it 6-2. After driving in two runs without making contact, Norris connected against Deduno in the sixth for a three-run homer before Schafer and Dozier each had an RBI in the eighth to make the outcome a bit more respectable.
