Brewers 9, Phillies 4: Ryan Howard's error allowed the go-ahead run to score in the eighth, and Ryan Braun delivered a two-run triple shortly thereafter to propel visiting Milwaukee to its fifth straight win.

Carlos Gomez homered among three hits while Aramis Ramirez also notched three hits for the Brewers, who received two late insurance runs on Mark Reynolds' ninth-inning homer. Matt Garza got the start for Milwaukee and allowed four runs (three earned) over six innings before Tyler Thornburg (2-0) retired all six batters he faced.

Carlos Ruiz had two hits and scored twice for the Phillies while Marlon Byrd drove in a pair of runs. Roberto Hernandez yielded four runs (three earned) over five frames and struck out nine batters in a game for the first time since 2007, when his name was Fausto Carmona and he was pitching for Cleveland.

Reynolds walked against Antonio Bastardo (0-1) to open the eighth, stole second and was sacrificed to third before Logan Schafer hit a bouncer to Howard's left that went off the first baseman's glove and into right field. Bastardo then hit Jean Segura with a pitch before Braun, who hit three homers and tied a franchise record with seven RBIs in Tuesday's 10-4 victory, followed with a one-hopper off the center field wall to plate two more runs.

The Brewers initially put up a pair of runs in the top of the first, highlighted by Ramirez's RBI single, before the Phillies took a 3-2 lead in the bottom half thanks in part to a balk and an error. Milwaukee regained a 4-3 edge in the fourth on Gomez's line-drive homer over the left-field fence before Philadelphia tied it in the fifth on Byrd's RBI base hit.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Phillies 2B Chase Utley missed his second straight game with the flu. ... Phillies CF Ben Revere was initially ruled safe on a tag play at second base in the first inning, but Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke challenged and the play was overturned. ... Revere made a terrific diving catch in the second inning, using a full-extension dive to rob Scooter Gennett of a base hit.
