Brewers 4, Marlins 1: Matt Clark hit his first career homer and drove in two runs while Wily Peralta won his 16th game as host Milwaukee prevailed for only the second time in 15 contests.

Peralta (16-10) snapped a three-start losing streak after allowing one run and five hits in 6 2/3 innings while driving in a run as the Brewers remained 1 1/2 games behind Pittsburgh for the National League's final wild-card spot. Carlos Gomez recorded two hits and an RBI as Milwaukee halted a four-game slide.

Marcell Ozuna homered in his third straight contest for Miami, which dropped 4 1/2 games behind the Pirates. Jarred Cosart (13-9) had his four-game winning streak snapped and fell to 4-2 in seven starts with the Marlins after yielding two runs (one earned) and four hits while striking out seven in six innings.

The Brewers took a 1-0 lead in strange fashion in the third when Jean Segura reached and advanced to second on Adeiny Hechavarria's throwing error leading off the frame. Segura stole third while Miami was executing an appeal play at first, and Peralta delivered his first career sacrifice fly on the next pitch.

Ozuna cut the deficit to 2-1 when he led off the seventh by belting a 3-2 fastball the opposite way into the second deck in right for his 22nd homer. Clark began the bottom of the frame by crushing an 0-1 changeup just over the wall in right before Gomez's infield hit three batters later plated Segura.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Milwaukee's Francisco Rodriguez allowed a two-out single in the ninth inning before earning his first save since Aug. 24 and 40th of the season - the first time since 2008 and the fifth time in his career he's saved 40. ... Brewers OF Ryan Braun (thumb) did not start for the second straight game, but is expected to return to the lineup in Thursday's series finale. ... Milwaukee's Jonathan Lucroy recorded his 50th double - the third player in franchise history to do so - and is 11 ahead of Atlanta's Freddie Freeman in his bid to become the first catcher in history to lead his league in two-base hits.
