Twins 10, Royals 2: Ricky Nolasco worked six solid innings and Eduardo Nunez homered among three hits as host Minnesota pounded Kansas City.

Joe Mauer delivered a two-run double before leaving with a right oblique strain while Sam Fuld had a two-run single for the Twins, who scored in double figures for the first time since a 10-1 win over the Royals on April 11. Nolasco (5-6) scattered eight hits while allowing one run and striking out three to win for the first time in five starts.

James Shields (8-4) continued to slump by allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits in five frames for Kansas City. Mike Moustakas' RBI single in the second inning and Danny Valencia's run-scoring double in the eighth accounted for the offense as the Royals fell for just the second time in their last 11 road games.

Chris Parmelee delivered an RBI double in the bottom of the first to begin the scoring for Minnesota, and a walk, error and an infield hit by Kendrys Morales made it 2-1 in the third. Two base hits and a walk loaded the bases in the fourth for Nunez, who pushed in another run with an infield single before Mauer went the other way to push the advantage to 5-1.

Nunez homered to open the sixth and four more runs came in during that frame, which featured three singles, two walks, an error and a wild pitch. Morales finished 3-for-5 and Kurt Suzuki and Trevor Plouffe added RBIs for Minnesota, which has won five of its last six home games.
