Dodgers 8, Padres 6: Carl Crawford homered among his three hits, drove in three runs and scored three times as Los Angeles rolled past visiting San Diego in the opener of a three-game series.

Kevin Correia (7-13) allowed four runs on eight hits over five innings and three relievers bridged the gap to Kenley Jansen, who allowed a run in the ninth before recording his 35th save. Justin Turner went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Matt Kemp added two doubles for the Dodgers, who snapped their three-game losing streak and moved 4 1/2 games ahead of San Francisco in the National League West.

Jedd Gyorko began the scoring with a three-run homer in the first for San Diego, which lost for the eighth time in 11 games against the Dodgers this season. Los Angeles answered with two runs in the second off Ian Kennedy (9-11), who yielded six runs (five earned) over five innings.

Turner sparked a three-run rally in the fourth when his double plated Kemp, who led off with a double. San Diego, which has lost four of its last five, cut the deficit to 5-4 on Seth Smith’s RBI single in the fifth.

Crawford extended the Dodgers’ lead with an RBI single in the fifth before hitting a two-run blast in the seventh for his first homer since May 23. Abraham Almonte went 4-for-5 and Yangervis Solarte had two hits for San Diego, which pulled within 8-5 on pinch-hitter Yasmani Grandal’s RBI double in the eighth off Brandon League.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Dodgers optioned INF Carlos Triunfel to Triple-A Albuquerque and recalled SS Erisbel Arruebarrena. ...
