Astros 3, Rangers 2:
Jose Altuve capped a career high-tying four-hit game with a tiebreaking RBI single in the eighth inning as host Houston continued its dominance of Texas.

Matt Dominguez belted a tying homer in the eighth and added an RBI single as the Astros took three of four in the series and beat the Rangers for the 10th time in 12 meetings. Jose Veras (3-0) pitched a scoreless inning in relief of Dallas Keuchel before Chad Qualls worked a perfect ninth for his 16th save.

Alex Rios had a pair of hits with an RBI single and scored a run for Texas, which fell to 5-11 against Houston this season. Neal Cotts (2-8) took the loss by giving up two runs in an inning while starter Nick Martinez lasted 5 1/3 frames, permitting one run on six hits.

Rios, who missed two games earlier in the week while dealing with a bruised thumb, ripped a two-out double in the first that missed being a homer by two inches and scored on a single by Ryan Rua - his first major-league RBI. The Houston tied it in the second on Jason Castro's double and Dominguez's two-out single, which halted his 10-game RBI drought.

Keuchel retired 10 in a row before Daniel Robertson doubled to lead off the sixth, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored when Rios laced a single to center past a drawn-in infield to put Texas ahead 2-1. Dominguez, who entered 1-for-20 over his previous seven games, pulled the Astros even with a towering blast to left for his first homer in 13 contests.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Astros 2B Altuve, who leads the majors with a .336 batting average, extended his hitting streak to nine games and moved into a tie with Jose Cruz for eighth place on the single-season hits list with 189. ... Rangers LHP Cotts escaped a bases-loaded jam in the seventh but tied Oakland's Luke Gregerson for the most blown saves in the AL with seven after surrendering Dominguez's homer. ... ... CF Dexter Fowler has reached base safely in all 18 games since coming off the disabled list for Houston, which hosts the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday while Texas concludes its 10-game road trip Monday at Kansas City.
