Mariners 13, Astros 2: Kyle Seager went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs and James Jones went 3-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBIs as visiting Seattle defeated Houston for the second straight night.

Robinson Cano drove in three runs and Endy Chavez scored three times as the Mariners set their season best for runs scored. Dustin Ackley also had three hits as Seattle racked up a season-high 18 while winning for the 12th time in 16 games.

Hisashi Iwakuma (6-4) struck out seven in six innings and allowed one run and seven hits. Astros starter Jarred Cosart (8-6) gave up six runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings while having his four-game winning streak halted.

Cano, Seager and Jones each had an RBI over the first two innings as the Mariners took a 3-1 lead before blowing the game open with a seven-run sixth inning in which they strung together six consecutive two-out hits. Seattle matched a club mark with five doubles in the inning with Cano smacking the first one for two runs and Seager, Logan Morrison, Mike Zunino and Ackley all adding RBI two-baggers during the frame.

Jones tripled and scored on Willie Bloomquist’s infield out in the seventh to make it 12-1. Houston’s Enrique Hernandez smoked a run-scoring double in the bottom of the seventh in his first major-league at-bat before Seager hit a mammoth homer to right in the ninth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Astros 2B Jose Altuve went 2-for-3 before departing but failed to steal a base to snap a streak of seven straight games with at least one. … Jones is 7-for-11 with five runs scored and three steals through the first two contests of the three-game series. … Houston recalled Hernandez, an infielder, OF Domingo Santana and LHP Kevin Chapman from Triple-A Oklahoma City and opened roster spots by placing CF Dexter Fowler (intercostal strain) on the 15-day disabled list, demoting SS Jonathan Villar to Oklahoma City and designating RHP Jerome Williams for assignment.
