Athletics 11, Astros 3: Yoenis Cespedes homered among his three hits and had three RBIs to continue his assault on Houston pitching and host Oakland cruised after scoring seven runs in the first inning.

Alberto Callaspo and Josh Reddick homered in the first while Coco Crisp added a two-run shot in the fifth as the Athletics improved to 21-5 all-time versus the Astros. Sonny Gray (3-0) was the beneficiary of the outburst and yielded three runs and a career-high nine hits in six innings while nearly doubling his ERA from 0.95 to 1.80.

Jarred Cosart (1-2) recorded only out and allowed seven runs and three hits while walking four in 39 pitches - 15 for strikes - to help send Houston to its 12th loss in 15 games. Dexter Fowler snapped a 5-for-40 slump with two hits and an RBI while George Springer went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in his third major-league game.

Cosart walked the bases loaded with one out and Cespedes delivered a flare to center to drive in a pair before Callaspo followed by drilling a 2-1 pitch just over the wall in right for a three-run homer. John Jaso walked and Reddick blasted a 3-1 offering into the seats in right-center to chase Cosart.

Cespedes, who extended his hitting streak against Houston to 13 games and is batting .415 during that span, delivered a two-out solo shot to left on a 2-2 pitch in the second off Paul Clemens. Crisp fouled out three straight 3-2 pitches before clearing the wall in right-center to make it 10-3 and end Clemens' night.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The benches briefly emptied in the third inning when the Athletics' Jed Lowrie shouted at Astros manager Bo Porter after flying out to end the third inning. Lowrie was apparently upset after Clemens threw a pitch between his legs earlier in the at-bat. ... Oakland has won five of its last six contests and is the only team in the majors which hasn't lost consecutive games this season. ... The Athletics and LHP Sean Doolittle agreed to a five-year contract, with club options that could keep the converted first baseman with the team through 2020.
