Yankees 4, Astros 2:
Yangervis Solarte had three hits and an RBI in his first career start and Derek Jeter delivered a run-scoring single as visiting New York salvaged the finale of a three-game set.

Ichiro Suzuki was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and Brett Gardner also had an RBI single for the Yankees, who shuffled the lineup after producing a total of three runs in the first two games of the series. Ivan Nova (1-0) gave up two runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings while working around five walks and David Robertson finished 3 1/3 scoreless innings by the New York bullpen with a perfect ninth for his first save.

Dexter Fowler continued his hot start with an RBI single and a run scored to pace the Houston attack. Brett Oberholtzer (0-1) let up three runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings to drop his season debut.

Fowler singled and scored to give the Astros a first-inning lead for the third straight game but Gardner knocked in Ichiro in the third before Carlos Beltran lifted a sacrifice fly to give New York its first lead of the season. Solarte doubled and scored on Jeter's base hit to right in the fifth for a 3-1 advantage.

Houston halved the deficit when Jonathan Villar doubled and came in on Fowler's single in the bottom of the frame. Suzuki doubled with two outs in the seventh and raced all the way around when Solarte's popup fell among three Astros in front of the mound for a gift single, and the Yankees' bullpen closed the door.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Yankees CF Jacoby Ellsbury, who was 0-for-7 in his first two games with his new team, entered in the bottom of the eighth. C Francisco Cervelli made his first start in place of starter Brian McCann. ... Astros C Jason Castro was hit by a pitch twice, leaving the game after the second one got him in the right ankle. ... New York continues its road trip at Toronto on Friday while Houston stays home to host the Los Angeles Angels.
