Mets 2, Rockies 0: Eric Young Jr. went 3-for-3 with an RBI triple as host New York completed a three-game sweep to extend its winning streak to four games.

Rafael Montero (1-3) pitched 5 1/3 innings of three-hit ball, striking out seven, to earn his first major-league win and keep the Mets within 5 1/2 games of Pittsburgh for the second wild card. Juan Lagares had an RBI and Dilson Herrera scored twice to help New York win for the seventh time in eight games.

Rookie Tyler Matzek (5-10) had his three-start win streak halted despite allowing two runs on four hits while striking out seven in 6 1/3 innings. Justin Morneau reached base three times for Colorado, which was shut out for the second straight game and managed only two runs in the series to fall to a major league-worst 20-52 on the road.

Matzek struck out the first two batters in the second but gave up a two-out walk to Herrera before Young tripled up the alley on an 0-2 pitch to end the left-hander's 22-inning scoreless streak. Montero carried a no-hitter into the fifth, but Matzek broke it up with a two-out double to left to put runners on second and third before the rookie retired Charlie Blackmon on a flyout.

New York doubled the lead in the seventh when Matzek sandwiched a pair of walks around a single by Young to load the bases before Lagares greeted reliever Matt Belisle with a sacrifice fly to left. Three relievers kept the Rockies scoreless before Jenrry Mejía secured his 25th save.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Mets 2B Daniel Murphy, who came off the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, agreed to move to third base to take the spot of captain David Wright, who has been shut down for the season due to persistent inflammation in his left rotator cuff. ... Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado was hitless in three at-bats to end his six-game hitting streak. ... LF Matt den Dekker, who was hit in the hand Tuesday, was not in the lineup for the Mets, who open a four-game series against visiting Washington on Thursday while Colorado has a day off before beginning a three-game series in St. Louis.
