Rockies 3, Giants 2: Justin Morneau recorded two hits and an RBI to back Tyler Matzek's solid outing as visiting Colorado took advantage of some sloppy play by San Francisco to win its third straight.

Matzek (3-9) allowed two runs on eight hits while striking out seven in as many innings as he snapped a personal five-game losing streak. Charlie Blackmon contributed a single and scored a run as Colorado won its fourth straight game in San Francisco.

The Giants tied a season high with four errors, all within the first four innings, in their third consecutive loss. Jake Peavy (3-13) gave up three runs (one earned) in seven frames and Andrew Susac hit a solo homer for San Francisco, which saw its lead over Atlanta in the race for the second National League wild card reduced to one-half game.

Blackmon reached on an error to open the game and later scampered from second to third on an errant pickoff attempt by Peavy before scoring on Morneau's sacrifice fly. Buster Posey singled in a run in the bottom of the first inning and Susac homered to center in the second to put the Giants up 2-1.

Two more errors and a balk helped the Rockies tie it in the fourth and Corey Dickerson's sacrifice fly later in the frame made it 3-2. Adam Ottavino worked around a leadoff single in the eighth and LaTroy Hawkins overcame a leadoff walk in the ninth for his 21st save in 22 chances.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Blackmon had an RBI in the seventh taken away after a replay review ruled that DJ LeMahieu was out at home trying to score on Blackmon's single to right. ... Giants manager Bruce Bochy was ejected in the eighth for arguing a called third strike against Posey. ... San Francisco RHP Tim Lincecum will have his next turn in the rotation, scheduled for Thursday versus Colorado, skipped in favor of RHP Yusmeiro Petit. A two-time Cy Young Award winner, Lincecum has a 9.49 ERA over his last six starts and will pitch out of the bullpen for now, Bochy said Monday.
