Twins 8, Tigers 4: Danny Santana drove in two runs and scored three while falling a homer shy of the cycle as host Minnesota took the rubber match of the three-game series.

Brian Dozier and Joe Mauer registered two hits and two RBIs apiece while Trevor Plouffe and Kurt Suzuki each plated a run for the Twins, who improved to 8-7 in the season series with their seventh win in 24 overall contests. Kyle Gibson (12-11) halted his five-start winless streak, allowing four runs and seven hits over six innings.

Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-5 with an RBI while Torii Hunter and J.D. Martinez each recorded two hits and drove in a run for the Tigers, whose lead over second-place Kansas City in the American League Central was reduced to a half-game. Nick Castellanos notched an RBI and David Price (14-12) yielded five runs on eight hits and three walks over 5 2/3 innings.

The division rivals picked up where they left off Tuesday, with Detroit taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back RBI singles by Martinez and Castellanos before Minnesota received run-scoring hits from Dozier, Plouffe and Suzuki in the bottom half for a 3-2 edge. The Tigers jumped back in front in the second as Hunter plated Andrew Romine with a single and scored on Cabrera's double.

Price protected the lead until the sixth, when Aaron Hicks recorded a one-out double and came home two batters later on Santana's two-base hit to forge a tie. Al Alburquerque relieved Price and yielded Dozier's RBI triple before being replaced by Kyle Ryan, who was greeted by Mauer's run-scoring double that capped the rally.
