Tigers 4, Rockies 0: Anibal Sanchez struck out a season-high 12 in seven dominant innings and Victor Martinez clubbed a three-run homer for the second straight day as host Detroit completed a three-game sweep.

Miguel Cabrera had two hits with an RBI and a run scored and Rajai Davis added a pair of hits and also scored as the Tigers notched only their second three-game sweep at home this season. Sanchez (8-5) allowed two hits and did not walk a batter in an overpowering performance to improve to 4-0 lifetime against Colorado.

Rockies left-hander Jorge De La Rosa (11-7) saw his seven-start unbeaten streak halted, giving up four runs on six hits over 6 2/3 innings as Colorado absorbed its fourth straight defeat and seventh in eight games. The Rockies, who mustered only four singles, struck out 32 times in the series to fall to a major league-worst 17-39 on the road.

De La Rosa retired the first two batters in the third before the Tigers jumped on him for four runs, with Davis (7-for-13 in the series) igniting the rally with a double and Ian Kinsler reaching when he was hit by a pitch. Cabrera drove in his 83rd run with a hard single up the middle before Martinez launched a breaking ball over the fence in left to make it 4-0.

After permitting a one-out single in the third, Sanchez retired 10 in a row before shortstop Eugenio Suárez dropped a pop fly with two outs in the sixth and the only other hit he allowed was a two-out single by Drew Stubbs in the seventh. Joba Chamberlain worked a scoreless eighth before recent acquisition Joakim Soria notched his first scoreless appearance in four outings for the Tigers.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Left-handers have started 19 straight games for Colorado - one shy of the major-league record set by Kansas City in 1982. ... Sanchez joined Jack Morris and current teammates Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander as the only Detroit pitchers in the past 40 seasons to record 12 strikeouts without walking a batter. ... Rockies RF Carlos Gonzalez, who is 5-for-40 in 11 games since the All-Star break, sat out his second straight game due to a sprained ankle sustained in Friday's series opener. ... LHP David Price is scheduled to make his debut for the Tigers when they kick off a nine-game road trip at the New York Yankees on Monday while Colorado has a day off before hosting the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game set.
