Tigers 4, Rockies 2: Rajai Davis celebrated his promotion into the every-day lineup with two hits and two RBIs while Justin Verlander improved to 15-0 in his interleague career at home - and 25-2 overall - to lead Detroit.

Ian Kinsler added two hits and an RBI while fellow All-Star Victor Martinez also drove in a run for the Tigers, who lead Kansas City by four games in the American League Central. Verlander (10-9) lowered his ERA in 32 interleague starts to 2.73 after yielding two runs and eight hits in eight innings as Detroit won for the second time in seven games.

Wilin Rosario (two hits) and Josh Rutledge each drove in a run while Nolan Arenado also contributed two hits as Colorado lost for the fifth time in six contests and fell to 10-30 in its last 40 games. Franklin Morales (5-6) allowed three runs and six hits while walking four in six innings to remain winless in his last three starts.

The Tigers took a 3-0 lead in the fifth as Bryan Holaday singled and Eugenio Suarez chopped a double down the left-field line with one out. Davis, who became Detroit's regular center fielder when Austin Jackson was traded Thursday, laced a two-run single up the middle and Kinsler followed with an RBI double to left.

Colorado scored twice in the seventh, when Justin Morneau and Brandon Barnes led off with singles - with Morneau scoring on Rosario's single to left and Barnes crossing the plate on a fielder's choice grounder by Rutledge. Martinez's two-out RBI single in the bottom half drove in Davis to give the Tigers a 4-2 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rockies RF Carlos Gonzalez prevented further damage in the fifth, when he ended the frame with a circus catch of Martinez's fly ball in foul territory against the side wall, but left the game with what appeared to be a leg injury. ... Detroit RHP Joe Nathan retired Charlie Blackmon on a fly ball with two on and two out in the ninth to earn his 22nd save in 27 chances. ... Colorado 2B DJ LeMahieu, who entered the game leading the majors with a .450 average in interleague play this season, went 0-for-3.
