Indians 3, Astros 1: Trevor Bauer tossed six scoreless innings and Jose Ramirez had three hits and an RBI as host Cleveland claimed the rubber match of the three-game series.

Lonnie Chisenhall added two hits and an RBI and scored a run while Jason Kipnis had two hits for the Indians, who remained five games of Seattle for the second wild card in the American League. Bauer (5-7) struck out nine and allowed four hits and three walks while snapping a six-start winless streak and Cody Allen worked a scoreless ninth for his 17th save.

Houston starter Brett Oberholtzer (4-9) gave up three runs on 10 hits and struck out six. Jake Marisnick and Jose Altuve had two hits apiece for the Astros.

Carlos Santana's sacrifice fly scored Michael Bourn to get the Indians on the board in the third, and Chisenhall added an RBI single an inning later. Ramirez made it 3-0 with a run-scoring single in the seventh.

The Astros broke through against Cleveland's bullpen in the eighth, as Jon Singleton's two-out double brought Marc Krauss around from first. Houston loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth before Allen struck out Dexter Fowler to end it.
