Indians 3, Astros 2: Jose Ramirez lined a walk-off single down the left-field line as Cleveland edged visiting Houston.

The Astros brought in right-hander Jake Buchanan (1-3) to face pinch hitter Tyler Holt leading off the ninth and Holt sent a single right back up the middle. Roberto Perez sacrificed the runner along and Michael Bourn walked before a wild pitch put the winning run on third for Ramirez.

Cody Allen (5-3) stuck out two in a perfect inning of relief to pick up the win for the Indians, who remained five games behind Seattle in the race for the second American League wild card. Jose Altuve drove in a run for Houston, which managed three hits.

Altuve came up with two on and two out in the third inning and ripped a single through the right side to score one run, and Robbie Grossman came in from third when the throw home got away from catcher Perez to make it 2-0. Ramirez doubled with two out in the bottom of the frame and scored on Michael Brantley’s single to chop the deficit in half.

Cleveland pushed the tying run across in the fourth when a pair of singles and a sacrifice set up Bourn’s RBI groundout to second. Indians starter Danny Salazar struck out seven in six innings and was charged with two runs - one earned - on three hits while Astros starter Collin McHugh yielded two runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 frames.
