Yankees 10, Indians 6: Carlos Beltran blasted his 11th career grand slam and Derek Jeter pulled into a tie for sixth place on the all-time hits list as host New York breezed to its sixth win in seven outings.

Jeter matched Hall of Famer Honus Wagner with his 3,430th career hit and came around to score on Beltran's RBI single in the five-run first inning. Stephen Drew and Martin Prado each had an RBI single for the Yankees, who sit a half-game in back of Kansas City in the race for the second wild card while remaining five games behind first-place Baltimore in the American League East.

With David Phelps sidelined by elbow inflammation, former Indian Esmil Rogers (2-0) made the most of his first start of the season and allowed one run on four hits in five innings to pick up the win. Right fielder Ichiro Suzuki made a running catch to prevent Cleveland from chipping away at a 5-2 deficit in the top of the sixth and Beltran deposited a 1-2 curveball from John Axford over the wall in right in the bottom of the inning.

Carlos Santana drove in three runs and David Murphy had an RBI single for the Indians, who have dropped four in a row overall and seven of eight on the road to fall 7 1/2 games behind first-place Detroit in the AL Central. Santana's two-run double highlighted a four-run seventh, but Adam Warren, Rich Hill and Dellin Betances kept Cleveland off the scoreboard the rest of the way.

Trevor Bauer (4-7) labored through a 44-pitch first inning and permitted five runs on six hits before exiting after 3 1/3 frames.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jeter slapped a ground ball up the middle in the first inning that was fielded by SS Jose Ramirez, but his throw to first was unable to be corralled by Santana. The throw appeared to have been in time to record the out, but the official scorer gave Jeter a hit. ... New York's Francisco Cervelli ripped a pair of doubles after replacing fellow C Brian McCann, who was hit in the mask by a foul tip and exited the contest in the sixth after being diagnosed with a mild concussion. ... The five-run first inning matched a season high in the opening frame for the Yankees, who also accomplished the feat on May 7 against the Los Angeles Angels.
