Royals 7, Indians 5: Billy Butler hit a tiebreaking two-run homer for the second consecutive night, this time in the fifth inning as host Kansas City extended its winning streak to five games.

Norichika Aoki recorded two hits and two RBIs while Alcides Escobar went 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored twice for the Royals, who evened their home record at 25-25. Jeremy Guthrie (6-9) snapped his three-start losing streak despite surrendering five runs and 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings and Greg Holland worked a perfect ninth for his 27th save after blowing an opportunity in the series opener.

Carlos Santana continued his torrid pace with his third homer in two games while All-Star Michael Brantley and Mike Aviles also registered two hits and an RBI for the Indians, who have lost six of their last seven contests. Zach McAllister (3-6) saw his winless streak reach nine starts after yielding six runs - five earned - and eight hits in four-plus frames.

The Indians busted out for five runs in the second inning to take a seemingly comfortable lead as Santana hit a leadoff homer before Jason Kipnis followed Aviles' RBI single with a two-run double and scored on Brantley's two-base hit later in the frame. Kansas City began to chip away with a run in the third and forged a tie with a four-run fourth that featured a two-run triple by Aoki, who came home on a passed ball to knot the contest.

After Cleveland stranded a runner at second in the top of the fifth, Butler provided more heroics in the bottom half by belting a two-run homer off Nick Hagadone to put the Royals ahead. The veteran launched a two-run shot in the eighth inning on Friday in a pinch-hitting role to snap a 4-4 deadlock.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Santana is 12-for-24 over his last six games. ... Cleveland fell to 4-6 on its 11-game road trip that concludes Sunday. ... Butler hit only three home runs over his first 100 games this season.
