Angels 6, Indians 4: Erick Aybar collected four hits and Howie Kendrick and Chris Iannetta drove in two runs apiece as Los Angeles handed visiting Cleveland its fifth straight loss.

Jered Weaver (2-2) allowed two runs while striking out six over 5 1/3 innings and five relievers bridged the gap to Joe Smith, who recorded his second save in as many games against his former team. David Freese added two hits and scored two runs for the Angels, who pulled even at .500 for the sixth time this season at 13-13.

The Angels led 2-0 before extending their lead in the fifth on Kendrick’s two-run single off Corey Kluber (2-3), who yielded four runs (three earned) on eight hits and four walks over 4 2/3 innings. Carlos Santana cut the lead in half in the sixth with his second homer of the series, a two-run blast into the right-center field seats.

Los Angeles moved ahead 5-2 on Aybar’s RBI single in the sixth before Cleveland chipped away with two runs in the seventh when Santana drew a bases-loaded walk from Nick Maronde and Michael Brantley followed with a sacrifice fly to score Lonnie Chisenhall from third. Brantley snapped an 0-for-17 slump with a double in the sixth for the Indians, who have scored a total of 12 runs during their five-game skid.

The Angels added an insurance run with two outs in the eighth when Aybar reached on a bunt single, moved to second on a balk by Bryan Shaw and scored on Iannetta’s single to left field. Aybar recorded four hits for the second time in his last five games and is hitting 18-for-44 over his last 11 games to raise his average by 100 points to .292.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Indians 2B Jason Kipnis left the game with an abdominal strain after grounding into a double play in the fourth inning. … Angels CF Mike Trout went 0-for-2 with three walks and robbed Lonnie Chisenhall of a home run in the first inning with a catch at the center field wall. … The Angels will look to move over .500 for the first time since starting 1-0 last season in Wednesday’s series finale.
