Cubs 3, Brewers 0: Anthony Rizzo homered and Kyle Hendricks pitched 7 1/3 scoreless frames as host Chicago knotted the four-game series at a game apiece.

Hendricks (4-1) posted his fifth straight quality start and his third consecutive win, allowing six hits and a walk while striking out five, and Hector Rondon pitched a perfect ninth for his 15th save. The rookie Hendricks outdueled Wily Peralta (14-7), who allowed three runs in 6 1/3 innings and was denied in his bid to become the majors' first 15-game winner.

Arismendy Alcantara and Justin Ruggiano each had two hits and an RBI for Chicago. Mark Reynolds had two of the six hits for Milwaukee, whose National League Central lead over Pittsburgh was trimmed to 1 1/2 games.

Ruggiano's RBI single opened the scoring in the second, and Alcantara added a run-scoring single in the fourth. Rizzo connected for his 26th homer — his first since July 22 — leading off the sixth.

The Brewers didn't move a runner into scoring position until the fifth and he was promptly erased by a double play. Milwaukee loaded the bases with one out in the eighth to chase Hendricks, but Pedro Strop got Jonathan Lucroy to ground into an inning-ending double play and Rondon breezed through the ninth in order.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rizzo's homer was the Cubs' first at home in 55 innings dating to July 30. … Chicago SS Starlin Castro went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. … The Cubs have posted shutouts in four of their five wins over the Brewers this season.
