Reds 8, Cubs 2: Zack Cozart and Jay Bruce blasted home runs and Homer Bailey picked up his first win of the season as visiting Cincinnati claimed the rubber match of a three-game series against Chicago.

Bailey (1-1) lasted past the fifth inning for the first time in four starts this year, allowing six hits and striking out eight over six scoreless frames. Cozart knocked in three runs and joined Devin Mesoraco with three hits apiece for the Reds, who have won 17 of their last 19 games at Wrigley Field.

Cubs starter Carlos Villanueva (1-4) ran into trouble in the fourth and didn't make it out of the fifth, as he was charged with five runs on nine hits while striking out seven in 4 2/3 innings. Ryan Sweeney and Nate Schierholtz each had two hits and an RBI while Emilio Bonifacio and Anthony Rizzo added two hits apiece for the Cubs, who have not won a series this season.

The Reds broke a scoreless tie when Mesoraco and Cozart smacked back-to-back RBI doubles in the fourth, and Bailey added an RBI single later in the inning. Todd Frazier's RBI double and Ryan Ludwick's run-scoring single in the fifth added to the lead and chased Villanueva.

Bruce led off the seventh with a homer to center and Cozart added a two-run blast to left-center later in the inning for an 8-0 cushion. Sweeney's RBI single off Manny Parra broke up the shutout in the bottom of the seventh and Schierholtz singled home Sweeney, but the Cubs didn't threaten in the eighth and left two men on in the ninth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rizzo was back in the lineup after leaving late in Saturday's game because of back spasms, going 2-for-3 with a pair of walks. … Mesoraco extended his hitting streak to a career-best nine games. … Cubs RHP Jose Veras made his first appearance since April 11 and gave up both Reds home runs.
