White Sox 10, Twins 8: Alexei Ramirez singled in the tiebreaking run in a four-run eighth-inning uprising as host Chicago outlasted Minnesota.

Rookie Jose Abreu went 3-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to 21 games and scored twice, and Jake Petricka allowed a run in the ninth before picking up his seventh save as the White Sox won for the sixth time in eight games. Paul Konerko delivered a tying single in the bottom of the eighth off Casey Fien (5-5) before Ramirez followed with the go-ahead hit to shallow right and Tyler Flowers and Alejandro De Aza added RBI singles in the marathon nine-inning contest that lasted 3 hours, 47 minutes.

Brian Dozier had three hits and scored three runs, Trevor Plouffe also had three hits and Kurt Suzuki had three RBIs and for the Twins, who dropped to 4-10 since the All-Star break. Chicago starter Chris Sale allowed five runs (four earned) and eight hits in six innings, while Minnesota’s Logan Darnell gave up four runs and five hits in four innings.

The White Sox took a 6-5 lead in the sixth when Ramirez delivered a run-scoring double to left. The Twins tied it in the seventh on Suzuki’s two-out ground single to center and took a 7-6 lead on Chris Parmelee’s eighth-inning homer off Eric Surkamp before Javy Guerra (1-2) entered to record the final two outs of the inning.

Minnesota erupted for five third-inning runs against Sale on Josh Willingham’s single, Suzuki’s double, Kennys Vargas’ two-run double and Chris Colabello’s infield out to take a 5-2 lead. Chicago got a run back in the third on Conor Gillaspie’s double, another in the fourth on Abreu’s single and tied it in the fifth when Flowers hit an opposite-field homer to right.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Vargas was recalled from Double-A New Britain and went 1-for-5 in his major-league debut. … Abreu's streak is seven shy of Carlos Lee’s franchise record. … Twins 1B Joe Mauer (oblique) took batting practice again Friday and is expected to begin a minor-league rehab stint early next week.
