Braves 4, Marlins 3 (10): Evan Gattis led off the 10th inning with a homer off the top of the center-field wall as visiting Atlanta survived blowing a late two-run lead.

Gattis finished 3-for-5, his blast off Bryan Morris (7-1) hitting above the yellow line in dead center field as the Braves moved into a tie with Milwaukee for the final National League wild-card spot, and pulled within six games of Washington in the NL East. David Carpenter (6-3) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings and Craig Kimbrel earned his 43rd save with a perfect 10th.

Casey McGehee finished 2-for-3, lining a game-tying two-run single off Jordan Walden in the eighth. Jeff Baker drove in a run for Miami, which is five games behind the Braves and Brewers in the wild-card race.

Gattis hammered Morris’ first pitch of the 10th off the top of the wall in center, reaching third before Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez asked the umpiring crew to review the play, and video evidence clearly showed the ball hitting above the yellow line for a home run. Kimbrel, who moved into a tie with St. Louis’ Trevor Rosenthal for the major-league lead in saves, breezed through the 10th, getting Giancarlo Stanton to ground out to end it.

Atlanta scored three times in the fourth, including pitcher Alex Wood’s first two career RBIs on a single to center, and the Marlins pulled within 3-1 on Baker’s run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. Wood allowed two runs on six hits in seven-plus innings, walking Christian Yelich to lead off the eighth and seeing Walden allow McGehee’s two-run single to tie the contest.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Miami starter Nathan Eovaldi struck out seven while allowing three runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. … McGehee and Yelich each extended hitting streak to nine games. … The Braves left two on in the fifth and the bases loaded in the seventh, finishing 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
