Padres 4, Braves 3 (10): Everth Cabrera lined a two-out single in the bottom of the 10th to score Alexi Amarista as San Diego capped a three-game sweep of ice-cold Atlanta.

Cabrera’s liner off David Hale (3-4) sailed just past the glove of diving second baseman Ramiro Pena, giving the Padres their fifth victory in six games. Tim Stauffer (4-2) got the victory with a scoreless 10th, Tommy Medica homered, and Amarista and Will Venable each finished with two hits.

Jason Heyward finished 3-for-4 – falling a homer short of the cycle – and scored twice for the Braves, who dropped to 0-6 on their current road trip and have scored nine runs in their past five contests. Atlanta dropped 3 1/2 games behind Washington in the National League East.

Venable singled leading off the second to extend his hitting streak to five games and scored on starting pitcher Tyson Ross’ two-out single to center as San Diego took a 1-0 advantage. The Padres made it 2-0 in the fourth when Cabrera hit a sacrifice fly to right with the bases loaded to score Amarista.

Heyward’s RBI triple and Evan Gattis’ run-scoring double in the seventh tied the game, but Atlanta could not push across another run after loading the bases with no outs. San Diego vaulted ahead 3-2 when Medica led off the eighth with a homer off Anthony Varvaro, but Heyward doubled to start the ninth, raced to third on Gattis’ comebacker to the mound and scored when Joaquin Benoit threw wildly to third.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ross pitched six shutout innings before running into trouble in the seventh, allowing two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts, while Atlanta starter Aaron Harang gave up two runs on five hits in six innings. … Medica, who homered twice Friday en route to a 5-for-5 night, finished 8-for-12 in the series. … Atlanta reliever Juan Jaime gave up a single and two walks in the ninth, but after going 3-0 to Jedd Gyorko he forced an inning-ending groundout.
