Mets 4, Braves 1: Dillon Gee gave up one run over seven-plus innings in his return from the disabled list, and Travis d’Arnaud hit a two-run homer as host New York won its fourth in a row.

Gee (4-1), who had not pitched since May 10 due to a strained right lat muscle, held the Braves to one run on six hits with four strikeouts. Kirk Nieuwenhuis snapped a tie with a sacrifice fly in the seventh, d’Arnaud hit his sixth homer later in the inning and Jenrry Mejia pitched around two singles in the ninth for his ninth save.

Atlanta starter Ervin Santana (7-6) pitched well before running into trouble in the seventh, allowing four runs on six hits in seven innings. Tommy La Stella finished 2-for-4 and B.J. Upton added an RBI double for the Braves, who have lost four in a row.

New York pushed across a run in the first when Daniel Murphy doubled and came in on Lucas Duda’s single to right-center. Gee retired 15 of the first 17 hitters he faced – including 10 in a row – before Santana legged out an infield single with two outs in the sixth, and Upton drove Santana home with a double to the wall in center to tie the score at 1.

David Wright doubled leading off the seventh, taking advantage of Justin Upton’s inability to get the ball in quickly, and scored on Nieuwenhuis’ sacrifice fly to right to give the Mets a 2-1 lead. D’Arnaud followed and crushed a Santana slider deep into the left-field seats for a two-run homer and a 4-1 New York advantage, and Mejia struck out La Stella with runners on second and third to end the game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: D’Arnaud’s homer gave the Mets at least one longball in nine consecutive games at Citi Field, setting a new record. … Santana induced inning-ending double plays in the third and fourth, and picked Murphy off first base to conclude the sixth. … Gee threw 61 of his 85 pitches for strikes.
