Braves 6, Nationals 2: Dan Uggla hit a tiebreaking two-run single to ignite a four-run fifth inning as Atlanta won in Washington for the 10th time in its last 12 tries.

Freddie Freeman reached in all five plate appearances, drawing three walks before getting on base via an infield single in the sixth and doubling to open the eighth for the Braves, who notched their fourth straight victory and defeated the Nationals for the 19th time in their last 25 meetings. Julio Teheran (1-1) went 2-for-4, including an RBI single, and yielded two runs while striking out six over seven frames.

Stephen Strasburg (0-1), who was charged with six runs (three earned) and eight hits over 4 1/3 innings, was undone by a fourth-inning throwing error from Ryan Zimmerman and another by Bryce Harper one inning later. Adam LaRoche went 2-for-2 with a two-run homer as Washington could muster only five hits.

The Nationals raced out to an early lead in the first as LaRoche sent Teheran’s low slider into the upper deck in right. The score remained unchanged until the fourth when Justin Upton scored on Zimmerman’s errant throw and Atlanta evened it three pitches later on Teheran’s soft liner to right.

With one out in the fifth, Strasburg walked Freeman and gave up back-to-back singles to Chris Johnson and Upton to load the bases. Uggla ripped a grounder past Zimmerman at third and Harper’s throw from left field ricocheted off catcher Jose Lobaton’s glove, allowing Upton and Uggla to move ahead a base and later score on Ryan Doumit’s single and Andrelton Simmons’ sacrifice fly.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Braves CF B.J. Upton (2-for-5) and LF Justin Upton (2-for-4) entered Saturday batting a combined 2-for-31 on the season. … Strasburg is winless in his last six starts against Atlanta. …. Braves C Evan Gattis sat out due to the flu and was replaced by Doumit, who went 1-for-5.
