Brewers 6, Red Sox 2:
Lyle Overbay doubled in the go-ahead runs in the ninth inning as visiting Milwaukee spoiled Boston’s home opener.

Carlos Gomez and Aramis Ramirez each added an RBI in a four-run ninth to make a winner out of Brewers reliever Brandon Kintzler (1-0), who worked a scoreless eighth. Jonathan Lucroy homered and Khris Davis doubled twice for Milwaukee.

Will Middlebrooks homered and starter Jake Peavy allowed two runs on six hits in six innings for the Red Sox, who received their 2013 World Series rings prior to the contest. Mike Napoli walked twice and scored for Boston, but right-hander Edward Mujica (0-1) surrendered four runs on as many hits while recording only two outs.

The Red Sox brought on Mujica to begin the ninth with the score knotted at two and Davis led off with a double to left. Scooter Gennett reached when Mujica failed to get the lead runner at third on a sacrifice bunt attempt, and both runners scored on Overbay’s double to right.

Lucroy put the Brewers on top in the second with a solo blast over the Green Monster and Milwaukee took a 2-0 lead on Gomez’s RBI single later in the inning. Boston got a run back when Logan Schafer’s throw from right field caromed off Napoli and allowed him to score, and the Red Sox tied it up on Middlebrooks’ solo home run in the third.
