Orioles 3, Twins 2: Chris Davis hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the seventh inning as host Baltimore defeated Minnesota for the second consecutive night.

Jimmy Paredes smacked a homer and also had an RBI double for the Orioles, who have won five of their last six contests to move eight games ahead of the New York Yankees in the American League East. Minnesota has dropped six of its past seven outings.

Zach Britton struck out two in a perfect ninth to earn his 30th save. Baltimore starter Chris Tillman gave up one run and six hits in five innings while Minnesota’s Kyle Gibson allowed one run and four hits in five innings.

Paredes hit a two-out homer off Brian Duensing in the sixth to give the Orioles a 2-1 advantage, and the Twins tied the score in the seventh when Brian Dozier singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch from Andrew Miller (5-5) and scored on Joe Mauer’s single to left. Baltimore went back ahead in the bottom of the seventh as Adam Jones was hit by a pitch from Jared Burton (2-3) and moved to third on Nelson Cruz’s single before scoring on Davis’ fly to center.

Baltimore took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Davis walked, moved to second on J.J. Hardy’s single and scored when Paredes slammed a ground-rule double to left-center field. Minnesota tied it in the fifth when Mauer drew a one-out walk, moved to third on a single by Kennys Vargas and scored on Oswaldo Arcia’s sacrifice fly to left.
