Orioles 4, Angels 3: Adam Jones belted a two-run homer in the first inning and Kevin Gausman combined with two relievers on a four-hitter as host Baltimore held on for its third straight one-run victory.

David Lough and Ryan Flaherty each drove in a run for the Orioles, who posted their seventh win in nine contests and maintained their 2 1/2-game lead over Toronto in the American League East. Gausman (5-3) allowed three runs and three hits in seven innings and Darren O'Day struck out two in a perfect eighth before Zach Britton worked a scoreless ninth for his 21st save.

Chris Iannetta drove in a pair of runs and Kole Calhoun added an RBI for the Angels, who remained 2 1/2 games behind first-place Oakland in the AL West. All-Star Erick Aybar and Josh Hamilton recorded the other hits and Garrett Richards (11-4) yielded four runs and six hits over seven frames in suffering his second straight loss following a seven-game winning streak.

Jones, who homered in the first inning of Tuesday's triumph, repeated the feat in this one as he deposited the first pitch he saw from Richards over the center-field wall for a two-run blast. Baltimore doubled the lead in the fourth as Lough delivered a two-out RBI double and scored on a single by Flaherty.

The Angels battled back in the fifth, staging a two-out rally to get within a run. After Gausman walked the bases loaded, Iannetta recorded a two-run single and Calhoun followed with an RBI double.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jones has hit 11 of his 21 homers this season in the first inning. Wednesday's blast was the 10th of his career - and fourth this year - against the Angels. ... Britton has not allowed a run at home this season, limiting the opposition to 14 hits over 29 2/3 innings in 24 appearances. ... Orioles 1B Chris Davis missed his second straight game with flu-like symptoms.
