Orioles 7, Angels 6 (12): Manny Machado led off the 12th inning with his 11th home run as host Baltimore outlasted Los Angeles in the opener of their three-game series.

Machado, who also had an RBI double, deposited a 1-2 pitch from Cory Rasmus (2-1) into the left-field seats as the Orioles maintained their 2 1/2-game lead over Toronto in the American League East. Nick Markakis and All-Star Adam Jones also homered, J.J. Hardy drove in a run and Ryan Webb (3-1) worked out of a jam in the top of the 12th to notch the win.

Josh Hamilton went 3-for-6 with a homer and three RBIs for the Angels, who had their three-game winning streak snapped and fell 2 1/2 games behind first-place Oakland in the American League West. Kole Calhoun and Hank Conger each drove in a run while Howie Kendrick recorded two hits and scored twice.

Conger snapped a 3-3 tie in the fourth with a sacrifice fly, but Los Angeles starter Jered Weaver wasted little time surrendering the lead. Steve Pearce drew a leadoff walk in the bottom half and Nick Hundley drew a one-out free pass before Markakis lined an 0-1 pitch down the right-field line and off the foul pole for a three-run blast and 6-4 advantage.

Hamilton drew the Angels even, belting a two-out solo shot in the fifth and plating All-Star Mike Trout with a two-out infield single two frames later. Baltimore got a runner to third in the 11th before Markakis grounded out to end the inning, while All-Star Erick Aybar lined out with two in scoring position and two out in the 12th.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Weaver was tagged for six runs on seven hits and four walks in five innings, while Baltimore RHP Chris Tillman surrendered five runs - three earned - and six hits over five frames. ... The Angels fell to 25-23 away from home as they began an eight-game road trip. ... Los Angeles’ Albert Pujols collected three hits, as did fellow DH Delmon Young for the Orioles.
