Royals 5, Orioles 0: Rookie Yordano Ventura struck out eight in eight innings as visiting Kansas City cooled off Baltimore.

Billy Butler drove in two runs and Alex Gordon, Norichika Aoki and Omar Infante each had an RBI, with Butler, Aoki and Jarrod Dyson recording two hits apiece as the Royals (11-11) improved to 11-0 when scoring four or more runs this season. Ventura (2-1) scattered seven hits and walked two in his seventh career start.

Ubaldo Jimenez (0-4) yielded four runs, six hits and four walks while striking out three in six-plus innings. Nick Markakis, J.J. Hardy and Matt Wieters each had two hits, while Nelson Cruz went 0-for-3 and had his seven-game RBI streak halted for Baltimore, which left nine on base after scoring 10 or more runs in its last two games.

The Royals scored twice in the first when Infante walked with one out and Eric Hosmer, Butler and Gordon followed with consecutive singles. Kansas City threatened in the second, but Alcides Escobar was stranded at third after he singled, stole second and advanced to third on catcher Wieters' throwing error with none out.

Jimenez allowed only a pair of walks after Escobar's hit until Escobar walked and Dyson reached on a bunt single to start the seventh. After the runners advanced on a wild pitch, Aoki singled to right on a 3-0 offering to chase Jimenez before Infante hit T.J. McFarland's first pitch to left for a single to drive in Dyson.
