Nationals 3, Diamondbacks 2: Pinch-hitter Anthony Rendon delivered an RBI single with one out in the ninth inning as host Washington extended its winning streak to nine games.

Bryce Harper led off the ninth against Evan Marshall (4-3) with his third single of the game and Kevin Frandsen put runners at the corners with a one-out base hit before Rendon singled to left field, giving the Nationals their fourth walk-off victory in five contests. Wilson Ramos and Jayson Werth each drove in a run while Rafael Soriano (3-1) worked a perfect ninth for Washington, which increased its lead over second-place Atlanta in the National League East to seven games.

Ender Inciarte went 2-for-4 with a home run and Cliff Pennington also notched a pair of hits for the Diamondbacks, who fell to 2-7 on their 10-game road trip. Arizona starter Trevor Cahill yielded two runs on six hits and four walks in 6 1/3 innings, while counterpart Tanner Roark scattered five hits over seven scoreless frames.

Washington opened the scoring in the second inning as Ian Desmond drew a one-out walk, moved to second on Harper's infield single and stole third before racing home on a fielder's choice by Ramos. Arizona threatened to tie it in the sixth, getting a runner to third for the first time, but Roark induced Miguel Montero to ground into an inning-ending double play.

The Nationals doubled their lead in the bottom half, when Asdrubal Cabrera and Werth began the frame with back-to-back doubles. It wasn't enough to put away the Diamondbacks, however, as Jordan Pacheco drew a leadoff walk from Tyler Clippard in the eighth and Inciarte followed with his third career homer to forge a 2-2 tie.
