Nationals 8, Diamondbacks 1: Stephen Strasburg scattered three hits over eight dominant innings and Ian Desmond went 3-for-4 with four RBIs while recording his 100th career stolen base as host Washington extended its season-best winning streak to eight games.

Asdrubal Cabrera drove in three runs and Jayson Werth collected three hits and an RBI for the Nationals, who maintained their six-game lead over second-place Atlanta in the National League East. Strasburg (10-10) yielded one run and walked one while striking out four en route to his third win in four starts, a stretch during which he has given up two runs - one earned - and nine hits with 22 strikeouts over 22 innings in the victories.

David Peralta homered for the Diamondbacks, who fell to 2-6 on their 10-game road trip. Chase Anderson (7-5) was tagged for six runs on six hits and three walks in two-plus frames as his six-start unbeaten streak came to an end.

Arizona took an early lead as Peralta deposited a 2-2 offering from Strasburg over the right-center field wall with two outs in the first inning, but Washington erupted in the third to grab control. Denard Span ignited the rally with a leadoff single and stole second before scoring on Werth's base hit two batters later to forge a tie.

Anderson walked Adam LaRoche to load the bases and Desmond followed with a two-run single to left field. Bryce Harper's base hit chased Anderson and reloaded the bags for Cabrera, who greeted Eury De La Rosa with a three-run double to cap the outburst, and Desmond added another two-run single in the sixth for an 8-1 advantage.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Span's single in the third extended his home hitting streak to 22 games. ... Desmond also drove in four runs against Miami on April 10 before plating five at San Francisco on June 9. ... Arizona CF Ender Inciarte went 0-for-4, ending his career-best 17-game hitting streak, while 1B Mark Trumbo was 0-for-3 as he failed to reach base safely for the first time in 18 contests.
