Diamondbacks 7, Pirates 4:
Andy Marte and Aaron Hill each homered in the decisive sixth inning to lift Arizona over visiting Pittsburgh.

Marte, who was making his team debut after a flurry of activity for the Diamondbacks at the deadline, appeared in the majors for the first time since 2010 and came on as a pinch hitter in the sixth, slamming a 0-1 changeup from Jeff Locke into the stands in left for a tie-breaking two-run shot. Jordan Pacheco added two hits and an RBI and Nick Ahmed homered while Oliver Perez (2-1) picked up the win in relief and Addison Reed earned his 27th save for Arizona.

Locke (2-3) was knocked around for six runs - four earned - on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings as the Pirates dropped to 3-4 on their 10-game road trip. Neil Walker homered among two hits and Russell Martin doubled in a pair for Pittsburgh.

Martin’s double plated Walker and Ike Davis in the second to give the Pirates a quick lead but Davis’ poor defense led to a pair of runs in the fourth. The first baseman failed to catch Pedro Alvarez’s clean throw that would have resulted in the third out, allowing two runs to cross as the ball skipped down the line.

Pacheco’s RBI single gave the Diamondbacks a brief lead in the fifth but Walker homered to knot it up again in the top of the sixth. Arizona came right back in the bottom of the frame as Ahmed led off with a single and scored on Marte’s blast before Hill’s one-out shot to left capped the rally.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Diamondbacks sent INF/OF Martin Prado to the New York Yankees and shipped OF Gerardo Parra to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for a trio of minor leaguers. … Arizona starter Josh Collmenter was charged with three runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings. … Andrew McCutchen added an RBI single for the Pirates but is just 2-for-22 over his last six games.
