Diamondbacks 5, Cubs 4: Didi Gregorius drove in the go-ahead run to cap a three-run sixth inning as host Arizona rallied to down Chicago.

Gregorius finished with a season-high two RBIs and Paul Goldschmidt hit a solo homer to begin the comeback for the Diamondbacks, who defeated the Cubs for the ninth time in their last 12 tries at home. Eury De La Rosa (1-0) gave up one of Anthony Rizzo’s two home runs, but benefited from the rally to post his first career victory while Addison Reed left the tying run stranded on third base in the ninth for his 22nd save.

The Diamondbacks’ comeback overshadowed Rizzo’s sixth career multi-homer game as the first-time All-Star moved into a tie with the Miami Marlins’ Giancarlo Stanton for the National League lead with 22 home runs. Brian Schlitter (2-3) – the third of four pitchers to work in the sixth for the Cubs – was saddled with the loss after giving up the game-tying sacrifice fly and allowing a pair of singles that led to the final run.

Chicago got to Trevor Cahill in the fourth as Arismendy Alcantara led off the frame with a walk before Rizzo drove a 2-1 sinker over the fence in center. Ryan Sweeney doubled home Luis Valbuena later in the inning before Gregorius and Nick Evans trimmed the gap in the fifth with consecutive two-out RBI singles.

De La Rosa replaced Cahill and served up Rizzo’s second homer – a solo blast – to open the sixth, but the Cubs surrendered their two-run lead in the bottom half. Goldschmidt answered with his own solo shot to close the book on Chicago starter Edwin Jackson, Gerardo Parra tied it at 4-4 with a sacrifice fly and Gregorius greeted Zac Rosscup with a two-out single.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Goldschmidt (129) and Rizzo (103) – each of whom played in Tuesday’s All-Star Game – rank first and second, respectively, in extra-base hits by first baseman since the start of the 2013 season. … Chicago LF Chris Coghlan went 1-for-4 and is batting .420 in July after entering the month with a .204 average. … Goldschmidt has reached base safely in 33 of his last 34 games.
