Diamondbacks 4, Dodgers 2 (12): Aaron Hill drove in the go-ahead runs with a single in the 12th as Arizona outlasted host Los Angeles.

A.J Pollock led off the 12th with a double off Chris Perez (0-1) and pinch-hitter Cliff Pennington was hit by a pitch before Gerardo Parra dropped down a sacrifice bunt and Hill followed with a two-run single to right-center. Joe Thatcher (1-0) picked up the win in relief and converted starter Trevor Cahill worked the bottom of the 12th for his first save.

Juan Uribe forced extra innings with a solo home run and Scott Van Slyke homered for the Dodgers, who lost to Arizona for the first time in six meetings this season. Zack Greinke struck out eight while allowing one run and three hits in six innings for Los Angeles.

Uribe came up with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and smacked a 2-2 slider from Addison Reed off the foul pole in left to force extra innings. The Diamondbacks had gone in front in the top of the frame when pinch runner Tony Campana stole second, moved up on a groundout and scored when Chris Withrow sailed a pitch to the backstop while trying to intentionally walk Martin Prado.

Miguel Montero came up with two outs in the sixth and ended the scoreless draw by staying back on a 2-1 curveball from Greinke and slamming it into the seats in right-center for a 1-0 lead. The Diamondbacks tried to get an extra inning out of starter Wade Miley, who allowed one hit through the first six, but Scott Van Slyke led off the seventh and ripped a 1-0 fastball out to right to tie the game and end Miley’s night.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Dodgers SS Hanley Ramirez returned to the starting lineup after getting hit on the hand on Wednesday and went 1-for-4. … Arizona activated OF Cody Ross (hip) from the 15-day DL and designated LHP Ryan Rowland-Smith for assignment. Ross started in left field and went 0-for-5 in his first action since Aug. 11. … Miley allowed one run and two hits while walking five and striking out eight in six-plus innings.
