Matt Chapman hit a pair of home runs and drove in three runs as the visiting Oakland A's powered past the Detroit Tigers 9-3 on Tuesday.
Mark Canha added a two-run shot and Josh Harrison supplied three hits and drove in two runs as the A's won their third straight. Matt Olson contributed two hits, scored two runs and drove in one, and Starling Marte chipped in two hits and scored twice.
Starter Cole Irvin lasted 4 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on seven hits. Deolis Guerra (3-1) tossed 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to get the victory.
Robbie Grossman, Dustin Garneau and Derek Hill hit solo homers for Detroit, which has lost four straight. Tarik Skubal (8-12) allowed six runs on seven hits in five innings.
Grossman gave the Tigers an early lead with his 20th homer, a two-out shot in the first inning.
Skubal issued two walks in the next inning but escaped without allowing a run.
He wasn't as fortunate in the third. Marte hit a one-out double and Olson followed with an RBI double. With two outs, Chapman crushed a home run to left for a 3-1 lead.
Detroit loaded the bases in the fourth before Irvin induced Willi Castro to hit into a double play.
Oakland stretched its lead to 6-1 in the fifth. Marte and Olson led off with singles. Yan Gomes hit a sacrifice fly to knock in Marte. Chapman flied out to deep center, but Canha then ripped his two-run blast to right.
Detroit scored twice in the bottom of the frame, but it could have been more. Garneau led off with a homer and, one out later, Hill pulled another long ball over the left field fence. The Tigers had two more baserunners with two outs, but Jeimer Candelario lined out to end the inning.
The A's made it 8-3 in the eighth against Derek Holland. Chad Pinder led off with a single and Elvis Andrus moved him to third with a one-out double. Harrison brought both runners home with a single.
Chapman added a solo homer in the ninth.
