Eric Haase hit a go-ahead, two-run single in the eighth and the host Detroit Tigers defeated the Cleveland Indians 6-4 on Saturday.
Jeimer Candelario hit a two-run homer and scored two runs for Detroit, and Willi Castro scored two runs and stole two bases.
Michael Fulmer (5-4) pitched an inning of scoreless relief to collect the win. Gregory Soto recorded the last three outs for his 15th save.
Miguel Cabrera, who was looking for his 500th career homer, reached base three times on a single, hit by pitch and walk. He was replaced by a pinch-runner in the eighth.
Jose Ramirez had two extra-base hits, scored a run and knocked in a run for Cleveland.
The Tigers grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Cabrera reached on a two-out single and Candelario followed with his homer down the left field line.
Cleveland got a run in the second when Wilson Ramos walked and scored on Oscar Mercado's double.
The Tigers made it 3-1 in the bottom of the inning. Castro singled with one out, stole second and scored on Victor Reyes' single.
Detroit scored a run in the fourth. Haase hit a single and Castro hit into a fielder's choice. Castro once again stole second. Reyes then walked before Zack Short brought in Castro with a single to center.
The Indians closed the gap to 4-3 in the fifth. Myles Straw led off with a walk. One out later, Ramirez ripped a triple to right center. Franmil Reyes knocked in Ramirez with a single.
Cleveland tied it at 4 in the seventh. Bradley Zimmer led off with a single and moved to third on a Ramirez double.
After Reyes struck out, Ramos brought in Zimmer with a groundout.
Detroit scored twice in the eighth.
Cabrera led off with a walk against Bryan Shaw (5-6) and Jacob Robson was summoned to pinch run. Candelario and Renato Nunez followed with singles to load the bases.
Haase then blooped a single to bring in Robson and Candelario.
