Rhys Hoskins drove in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning and the visiting Philadelphia Phillies added two more to defeat the Washington Nationals 5-2 on Wednesday night.
Andrew McCutchen started the 10th on second base and Bryce Harper led off with a single to left off Brad Hand (2-2), moving McCutchen to third. Kyle Finnegan relieved Hand and Hoskins singled to left, scoring McCutchen.
After Alec Bohm hit into a double play, Nick Maton drove in Harper with a single to right. Maton stole second, went to third on Alex Avila's throwing error and scored on Andrew Knapp's single to make it 5-2.
Odubel Herrera tied the game at 2-2 with a solo home run off Hand with one out in the ninth inning.
Jose Alvarado (3-0) pitched the ninth and Hector Neris worked the 10th for his seventh save.
Harper had three hits for Philadelphia.
Starlin Castro had four hits for Washington and extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
Washington went 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position and dropped its fourth straight game.
Nationals starter Jon Lester allowed one run in six innings.
Zack Wheeler allowed two runs on eight hits over six innings for the Phillies.
The Phillies took a 1-0 lead in the second. Hoskins opened with a single off Lester, Bohm walked and, with one out, Knapp singled to left, scoring Hoskins.
In the fifth, the Phillies had runners on first and second with two outs when Harper singled, but Nationals left fielder Kyle Schwarber threw Herrera out at home.
Ryan Zimmerman led off with a double in the Washington sixth. Castro's single drove in Zimmerman to tie the score and then Avila drove a fly ball to right center. Center fielder Herrera and right fielder Harper converged but appeared to lose the ball in the lights and it fell in.
Castro scored to make it 2-1 and Avila ended up on third with his first triple since 2017.
Earlier Wednesday, the Nationals reinstated right-handed relief pitcher Wander Suero from the Injured List. Suero missed 21 games with a left oblique strain.
