Matt Harvey allowed one run over six strong innings and Cedric Mullins recorded his first career multi-homer game as the host Baltimore Orioles defeated the New York Yankees 4-2 on Monday night.

Harvey (2-1) limited the Yankees to three hits and produced the best of his five outings with the Orioles. He struck out five, worked around three walks and threw 84 pitches in an outing that lowered his ERA from 5.12 to 4.26.

Harvey touched 95 mph a few times, including on a strikeout of Giancarlo Stanton in the third. He also induced double-play grounders from Aaron Judge in the first inning and DJ LeMahieu in the sixth.

LeMahieu's double play occurred before a double from Stanton, who then scored on another double from Judge.

Mullins hit his fourth career leadoff homer when he drove an 0-1 fastball from Deivi Garcia (0-1) over the right-field wall and onto Eutaw Street. He hit his second home run in the seventh inning when he lifted a 3-1 fastball from Justin Wilson over the center-field wall.

Mullins also backed Harvey defensively when he made a leaping catch on Judge at the right-center field warning track for the first out of the fourth.

Freddy Galvis added an RBI double in the second inning on a ball that went over left fielder Clint Frazier's head. Galvis exited the game with left adductor soreness after pulling up at second base.

Baltimore scored its third run in the sixth when Austin Hays was hit by a pitch, took third on a single by Pedro Severino and scored on a balk by Darren O'Day.

Travis Lakins pitched a scoreless seventh and Tanner Scott loaded the bases in the eighth on three walks before striking out Rougned Odor. Cesar Valdez replaced Scott and allowed an RBI single to Gio Urshela but the eighth ended when Hays threw Judge out at third after Frazier scored on the play.

LeMahieu also appeared to score before Judge was tagged out at third but his run did not count even though replays seemed to show otherwise. New York manager Aaron Boone was ejected by first-base umpire Greg Gibson when he tried to challenge the call.

Valdez also tossed a perfect ninth to notch his fifth save in six opportunities.

In his season debut for the Yankees, Garcia allowed two runs on three hits in four innings. He struck out four, walked three and threw 65 pitches.
