Bryan Reynolds dropped a two-run bloop single to left field in the ninth inning Wednesday to give the Pittsburgh Pirates a 6-5 win over the visiting Miami Marlins.
Trailing 5-3 going into the ninth against Jose Urena (4-8), the Pirates pulled to within a run on Elias Diaz's leadoff homer. Kevin Kramer then walked and yielded to pinch runner Erik Gonzalez. Adam Frazier doubled, with Gonzalez going to third, setting up Reynolds' winning hit.
Frazier hit an RBI triple, Pablo Reyes a pinch-hit RBI double and Josh Bell an RBI single for the Pirates, who have won five of six.
Garrett Cooper homered for the second straight game and added an RBI double, and Starlin Castro hit three doubles and a two-run homer for the Marlins. Miami lost for the 14th time in 18 games.
Pittsburgh starter Trevor Williams pitched six innings, giving up three runs, two, and seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk.
Wei-Chung Wang (2-0) pitched a scoreless ninth.
Miami starter Robert Dugger, making his third career start, allowed three runs, two earned, and seven hits in six innings, with two strikeouts and two walks.
Miami took a 1-0 lead in the first. Castro doubled with two outs and came home on Cooper's ground-rule double to right.
The Pirates answered immediately. Reynolds reached on shortstop Miguel Rojas' fielding error. Colin Moran was hit by a pitch, and Bell followed with an RBI single to center to tie it.
In the fourth, Pittsburgh's Jacob Stallings drew a one-out walk. After Williams struck out, Frazier drove a standup triple off the wall to bring in Stallings for a 2-1 Pirates lead.
The Marlins jumped to a 3-2 lead in the fifth. With one out, Isan Diaz reached on Bell's fielding error at first. Castro then launched his 17th homer, to center.
The Pirates tied it in the sixth. Melky Cabrera singled, and Cole Tucker reached on a fielder's choice. An out later, Reyes, pinch-hitting for Williams, doubled to the wall in center, and Tucker raced home from first to make it 3-3.
In the seventh, Castro doubled with two outs before Cooper belted his 14th homer, to center, to make it 5-3.
