Nick Senzel led off the first and second innings with home runs and Jose Iglesias equaled his career-high with four RBIs on Monday afternoon, helping the host Cincinnati Reds salvage a split of their four-game series against the San Francisco Giants with a 12-4 victory.
Eugenio Suarez also homered for the Reds, who blasted 15 home runs in the four games and led all four by at least four runs despite only recording two wins.
For the second day in a row, the Reds jumped on the Giants' starter in the first inning. This time it was left-hander Drew Pomeranz (1-4), whose second pitch of the game was taken deep by Senzel.
After Joey Votto singled, Suarez unloaded on his 10th homer of the season, a two-run shot that made it 3-0 with no outs.
The Reds weren't done. After Kyle Farmer drew a one-out walk, Iglesias started his big day with an RBI triple, after which Curt Casali singled to make it a five-run inning.
The Giants countered with an unearned run off Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani (2-1) in the second, before Cincinnati ended Pomeranz's day with a two-run third that began with Senzel's second homer in as many innings.
The two-homer day gave the rookie three home runs in just four big-league games.
Pomeranz was pulled after giving up an RBI double to Iglesias with two outs in the inning, increasing the Cincinnati lead to 7-1. He was charged with seven runs on nine hits in 1 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out two.
The Giants, who rallied from 8-0 and 4-0 deficits for wins earlier in the series, got within 7-4 in the sixth on a three-run home run by Pablo Sandoval, his third of the season.
But the Reds busted the game open in the bottom of the inning. Iglesias drove in his third and fourth runs of the game with a single in a five-run explosion that included four hit batsmen.
DeSclafani went six innings, giving up four runs (three earned) and four hits. He walked two and struck out eight.
Sandoval pitched the eighth for the Giants, hitting the first batter he faced but facing just three batters after getting Senzel to hit into a double play.
Iglesias had three hits, while Senzel, Votto, Suarez and Casali recorded two apiece for the Reds, who outscored the Giants 37-24 in the wild series.
First baseman Brandon Belt scored twice for the Giants, who now move on to Colorado to complete a seven-game trip.
