Jeimer Candelario hit a solo homer and a go-ahead double as the Detroit Tigers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the host Cleveland Indians on Friday night.

JaCoby Jones supplied two hits, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base for Detroit, which also snapped a 10-game losing streak at Cleveland's Progressive Field. Victor Martinez added two hits and an RBI for the Tigers (60-87).

Drew VerHagen (3-2) retired two batters to notch the win. Starter Matthew Boyd gave up two runs on three hits in 5 1/3 innings while striking out seven. Shane Greene collected his 29th save despite giving up two ninth-inning runs.

Josh Donaldson hit a solo homer for his first hit with the Indians (82-65) after being traded from Toronto. Edwin Encarnacion also homered for Cleveland.

Josh Tomlin, making his first start since May 15, gave up two runs on five hits in four innings. Adam Cimber (3-7, 0-2 with Indians) took the loss, giving up a run on two hits in one inning of relief.

Candelario's fourth leadoff homer this season, which landed in the bleachers in right-center, staked the Tigers to a quick lead.

The Tigers extended their lead to 2-0 in the fourth. Jim Adduci led off with a double off the center field wall. He came home on Jones' one-out double down the left field line.

A power show allowed the Indians to tie it in the sixth. Encarnacion crushed his 31st homer over the fence in left-center, then Donaldson drilled a Boyd offering over the left field wall for his sixth homer.

The Tigers regained the lead in the seventh at 4-2. Dawel Lugo hit a leadoff double and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt. Candelario gave Detroit the lead with a double off the left field wall. With two outs, Martinez ripped an RBI double.

Jones' hustle added a run in the eighth. He beat out an infield hit, stole second, then scored from second base on a wild pitch.

Cleveland scored in the ninth on Melky Cabrera's sacrifice fly and Jason Kipnis' groundout. With a runner on second, Francisco Lindor flied out to end the game.
