Tomas Nido laced a three-run double in the second inning, and Todd Frazier hit a three-run homer in the third inning Saturday night for the host New York Mets, who earned a potentially costly 10-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field.

The Mets' 12th win in their last 20 games was overshadowed by a pair of injuries. Starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard exited after taking a comebacker off his left rib cage in the seventh inning, two innings after left fielder Dominic Smith left due to a left groin strain.

The Phillies, who are now 3 1/2 games behind Atlanta in the National League East after the Braves won Saturday night, have lost 13 of 19.

Syndergaard's night was likely almost done when he was hit by Cesar Hernandez's line drive with two outs in the seventh.

Syndergaard writhed in pain for a couple seconds before getting up and retrieving the ball, though he did not make a throw as Justin Bour scored from third to pull the Phillies within 9-4.

Syndergaard began walking off the mound before a team trainer and Mets manager Mickey Callaway arrived there to check on him. He handed the ball to Callaway before disappearing into the Mets' dugout.

Syndergaard (11-3) allowed four runs on 12 hits and five walks while striking out four in a 109-pitch effort. He left with the bases loaded, but Jerry Blevins struck out ex-Met Jose Bautista to end the inning.

Jay Bruce delivered a run-scoring single in the fourth for the Mets while Frazier (sacrifice fly) and Brandon Nimmo (single) collected back-to-back RBIs in the sixth. Michael Conforto homered in the eighth.

Rookie Jeff McNeil finished with three hits while Conforto and Bruce had two apiece.

Rhys Hoskins homered leading off the sixth for the Phillies, who scored their second run later in the inning on an infield single by Hernandez.

Wilson Ramos had an RBI single in the seventh, and Hernandez lofted a sacrifice fly in the ninth.

Hernandez finished with four hits, all singles, while Ramos, Hoskins, Carlos Santana and Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits apiece. Santana extended his hitting streak to 10 games.

Zach Eflin (9-7) took the loss after allowing six runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five over three innings. The Phillies used seven pitchers over the final five innings.
