Joey Rickard homered and drove in five runs and Trey Mancini also hit a homer as the host Baltimore Orioles defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 11-2 on Saturday night at Camden Yards.
Mancini and Rickard hit back-to-back homers on back-to-back pitches in a three-run second inning. Rickard added a three-run bloop double to right in the fourth and an RBI double in the sixth.
Mancini, Rickard and Caleb Joseph -- the Nos. 7-8-9 batters -- drove in nine of the Orioles' runs.
Rickard finished the game 3-for-4 with those five RBIs, Mancini went 4-for-4 and drove in two, and Joseph was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
This trio also combined to score seven runs -- three each for Rickard and Mancini, who even added an outfield assist.
In fact, the usually struggling Baltimore offense now has scored 26 runs the last two games after Friday's 15-5 win.
Baltimore hasn't given starter Kevin Gausman offensive support many times this season but he received plenty this time. Gausman (5-8) went seven innings and gave up two runs while scattering nine hits.
Tampa Bay went with its pitching-by-committee approach, and starter Ryne Stanek (1-3) gave up three runs in two innings of work -- all three coming on the back-to-back homers.
Jesus Sucre gave the Rays a 1-0 lead in the second with an RBI double. In the bottom of the frame, Mancini brought home Chris Davis with his home run and Rickard made it 3-1 on the next pitch.
Kevin Kiermaier cut the Baltimore lead to 3-2 with a solo homer in the third before the Orioles responded in the bottom of the fourth, this time taking charge for good. Rickard's bases-loaded double cleared the bases and Joseph followed with an RBI single which gave the Orioles a 7-2 lead.
Baltimore added four more in the sixth. Rickard (RBI double), Joseph (RBI single) and Adam Jones (run-scoring double) gave the Orioles a 10-2 edge and ended reliever Jalen Beeks' night. Mark Trumbo then added a sacrifice fly for the inning's last run.
Beeks, recently acquired from the Red Sox, stumbled in his Tampa Bay debut with eight runs surrendered on 10 hits in 3 1/3 innings.
