San Diego's Nos. 2 and 3 hitters, Carlos Asuaje and Wil Myers, combined for four hits, three runs and three RBIs as the Padres broke a three-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday in Phoenix.
Myers had two hits and two RBIs, Asuaje had two hits and scored twice, and both tripled.
The Padres reached six runs for only the second time in 12 games while winning for the fourth time in 17 games.
Ketel Marte had a double and a two-run homer, and A.J. Pollock, Jon Jay and Nick Ahmed had two hits apiece for Arizona, which has lost six of seven after winning seven of eight. The D-backs fell into a virtual tie with the idle Los Angeles Dodgers for first place in the NL West.
San Diego rookie left-hander Eric Lauer (4-5) gave up seven hits and one run in five-plus innings, with two strikeouts and two walks. He is 3-2 with a 2.63 ERA in seven starts since lasting a season-low 2 1/3 innings in a 7-2 loss to the Miami Marlins on May 28.
Arizona right-hander Shelby Miller (0-3) gave up five hits and five runs (three earned) before being removed in the Padres' three-run sixth inning that was extended by Ahmed's error. Miller struck out seven and walked two in his third start since returning from Tommy John surgery.
Brad Hand struck out the side after a leadoff infield single in the ninth inning for his 24th save.
No. 2 hitter Asuaje tripled with one out in the first inning and scored on Myers' single for a quick 1-0 lead.
Arizona tied it in the second inning when Marte opened with a double and scored on Jake Lamb's single.
San Diego's Austin Hedges hit his third homer of the season for a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning. Lauer walked Miller with one out in the last of the fifth but picked him off, his major-league-leading eighth pickoff of the season.
Asuaje walked and scored on Myers' triple to open the three-run fifth. Eric Hosmer reached second and Myers scored when Ahmed mishandled a grounder to his left. Freddy Galvis singled in the final run of the inning for a 5-1 lead.
Travis Jankowski walked, stole second and scored on Asuaje's single for 6-1 lead in the seventh inning before Marte's two-run homer in the eighth.
