Barreto hit a three-run homer off Chicago starter James Shields in the second inning to give Oakland a 4-0 lead. The A's have now homered in 22 straight road games, a franchise record.

Barreto tacked on another three-run blast in the eighth inning, his third of the season -- all in the past two games.

Khris Davis, Jed Lowrie and Jonathan Lucroy each had RBIs for Oakland, which took advantage of three White Sox errors and a wild pitch from Shields.

Chicago has lost eight in a row and has surrendered 23 runs in its last two games.

The A's have won six straight against the White Sox and nine of the last 10 meetings.

Manaea won his second straight start to improve to 7-6 on the season. The left-hander allowed one run on five hits while striking out seven without issuing a walk. He retired eight straight White Sox during a stretch beginning in the second inning.

The White Sox trailed 8-0 before they scored in the sixth. Chicago had runners on second and third with one out. Manaea got catcher Kevan Smith to ground to third, allowing Jose Abreu to score, but Matt Davidson made an out on the basepaths trying to advance to third after the throw to first to end the inning.

Yolmer Sanchez had an RBI double in the ninth inning for the White Sox.

Shields surrendered eight runs (two earned) on five hits in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out four, walked two and is now 2-9 on the season.

Friday's matchup was turned into a doubleheader after Thursday's planned series opener was rained out.
