Jose Berrios tossed his second complete game of the season, leading the Minnesota Twins to a 7-2 win over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday afternoon in Minneapolis.
Berrios (7-5) allowed two runs on six hits, walking none and striking out 10. The performance marked the third time in 13 starts this year that Berrios has fanned at least 10 batters.
Eddie Rosario went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and three RBIs for the Twins.
Eduardo Escobar and Ehire Adrianza also homered for Minnesota, which scored all seven of its runs during the first four innings. The Twins snapped a two-game skid.
Yoan Moncada and Jose Abreu hit RBI doubles for the White Sox, who dropped to 10-21 on the road.
White Sox right-hander James Shields (1-7) surrendered three home runs in his worst start in more than a month. The 36-year-old gave up seven runs on eight hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out six.
Minnesota opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the first. Rosario doubled to deep right-center field, and Escobar followed in the next at-bat with a blast over the center field wall for his 12th home run of the season.
The Twins made it 3-0 in the second on a solo shot by Adrianza, who belted Shields' offering over the right field wall. The long ball was a rare treat for Adrianza, who has two homers this year and seven homers in 268 career games.
A four-run outburst in the fourth put the Twins on top by seven runs. Brian Dozier singled to right field to drive in one run. Rosario put the game out of reach with a three-run shot in the next at-bat.
Moncada and Abreu drove in one run apiece in the sixth to break up Berrios' bid for a shutout.
Before Thursday's game, the White Sox purchased the contract of left-hander Xavier Cedeno from Triple-A Charlotte. The 31-year-old has pitched in 201 games with the Houston Astros, Washington Nationals and Tampa Bay Rays. Left-hander Aaron Bummer was optioned to Charlotte late Wednesday night.
